Sexual Perversion and America

Question
When did sexual perversion such as transvestism, bestiality, pedophilia, exhibitionism, necrophilia, homosexuality, incest, masochism, sadism, and voyeurism enter the USA?
Answer
Sexual perversion entered the entire world with the sin of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The Fall of Man is interesting in this regard. Look first at Genesis 3:1-7:

Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.

The first couple engaged particular body parts when they sinned: they listened to the Devil with their ears [Gen. 3:1, 4-5]; Eve spoke to the Devil with her mouth [Gen. 3:2-3]; Eve saw that the tree was good for food with her eyes [Gen. 3:6]; both Adam and Eve touched the forbidden fruit with their hands, and they ate it with their mouths [Gen. 3:6]). But notice that they didn’t afterward cover their ears, mouth, eyes, or hands with fig leaves. Rather, they covered their nakedness (Gen. 3:7). Biblically the first outward visible mark of sin dealt with the sexual organs! (Gen. 3:10-11).

A perversion means diverting from the true intent or purpose of something. God created sex to be solely between a married couple (one naturally born man married to one naturally-born woman). But since the Fall sexuality has gone through numerous mutations of evil. Sexual perversions of many types are directly mentioned in the Bible (Gen. 19:1-38; Exod. 20:14; 22:19; Lev. 18:22, 23; 20:13; Deut. 23:17; 27:21; Matt. 5:28; Rom. 1:26-27; 1 Cor. 6:9; 1 Tim. 1:10; Heb. 13:4; Jude 1:7; Rev. 21:8, et. al.). And anything that is not directly mentioned is implied by such verses like Ephesians 5:3 which says, “Don't let sexual sin, perversion of any kind, or greed even be mentioned among you. This is not appropriate behavior for God's holy people (GWT).

While the Greek word porne, meaning prostitute, is found in the Bible (Matt. 21:31-32; Luke 15:30; 1 Cor. 6:15-16; Heb. 11:3; Jas. 2:25; Rev. 17:1, 5, 15-16; 19:2), the word "pornography" is not. However, pornographic idols such as the Asherim and Asherah poles or the groves are (Exod. 34:13; Deut. 7:5; 12:3; 16:21; Judg. 3:7; 6:26, 28, 30; 1 Kings 14:15, et. al.). These were sexually-charged visible idols used in pagan worship. Similar sexual idols are worshiped on the internet today. A simple Google search for sexual magazines and clubs gives thousands of results from around the world. It is also seen on billboards, in marketing media, television, music, and even in some forms of dancing.

As with other countries around the world, the United States is slowly digging its own grave as it pertains to sexual perversion. In comparison, unless there is repentance, Sodom and Gomorrah will look like an ice cream social at the coming judgment. But how much worse on the last day when the gates of hell will be shut forever on all "the sexually immoral” (Rev. 21:7).
