Question
What's the difference between illumination and inspiration?
Answer
Inspiration describes the oversight of God so that the authors wrote down precisely what God intended. As compared to illumination, the doctrine of illumination of the Holy Spirit is the aid that the Spirit of God gives those who read the text of Scripture. According to 1 Corinthians chapter 2, the natural man cannot receive or understand the things of God, certainly not to the point of comprehending them as God intended. So, the doctrine of illumination is the Holy Spirit's work to open up the minds and eyes of those who read the text to be able to comprehend exactly what God intended it to mean
