Who Ruled Israel?

Question
Who ruled over Israel from the time of the exile by the Babylonians until the time of Jesus? Who ruled them after the Roman Empire?
Answer
After the Babylonians, Israel was ruled by the Medes and the Persians, and then by the Greeks, and finally by the Romans. Israel ceased to be a nation-state in A.D. 70 when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem, so there was no Israel left to be ruled by anyone after that time.
