KJV History

Question
How many scholars originally helped King James unravel the scrolls of the Bible? How many scrolls were completed in the translation?
Answer
Actually, King James didn't do any work translating the Scriptures. He was simply the king of England who authorized the team of translators to do their work. That's why the King James Version is also called the Authorized Version.

The translators worked from existing Hebrew and Greek texts that had been compiled and edited by earlier scholars. According to the historical record, 47 men did the work of translation under King James' authorization. However, their work was not so much a new translation from the original languages, but rather a revision of the Bishop's Bible already in use by the Church of England at that time.
