Question
What is the significance of Hosea 14:9 for the purpose of the book?
Answer
Hosea 14:9 says, "Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them." And so, this is the prophet's parting shot, and in the prophet's parting shot we hear God's final plea to Israel saying, "The Lord's ways are right. Your ways are not right." The Lord's ways are right, and so you have two choices: you can either walk in them and stand, or you can rebel against them and walk in your own way and stumble.
