What is Relativism?
Question
What is Relativism?
Answer
Relativism is a view that truth is relative and not absolute. It maintains, that truth varies from people to people, time to time and there are no absolutes.
Of course, this is a false philosophical belief. First, there are such things as absolutes. God exists. We exist. The universe exists. You are reading something that exists, etc. Second, there are also things that are relative. A person who believes that red is a better color than blue may change their mind later on. Therefore, there are absolutes and there are things that are relative. Third, if everything were relative then it would be need to be absolutely true that everything is relative, and this would be self-refuting. Therefore, relativism is a false doctrine.
