Were Jesus' miracles for real?
Question
Do you really believe Jesus did miracles when he walked on this earth?
Answer
A miracle is an extraordinary work performed by the immediate power of God in the external perceivable world, which is an act against nature that only God can do. — R.C. Sproul
Greek and Hebrew texts refer to signs and wonders performed by Jesus and the apostles. Essentially, we observe three main periods in redemptive history where God chose to do miracles: the period of Moses and Joshua; the period of Elijah and Elisha; and Christ and his apostles. So, yes, for Bible-believing Christians, Jesus did miracles when he walked on this earth.
John 21:25 tells us: "Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written." We don't have a list of all Jesus' miracles, but here is a brief list.Lepers cleansed | Matt. 8:1-4; Mark 1:41-42; Luke 5:12-14; 17:11-19 |
Individuals healed from afar | Matt. 8:5-13; Luke 7:2-10; John 4:46-54 |
