Question
What does it mean to grieve or quench the Holy Spirit?
Answer
A Christian might grieve or quench the Holy Spirit when rather than cooperating with his gentle and kind work, we're resistant, and instead of grasping the means of grace, instead of cooperating with God's Word at work in our heart, we resist the Holy Spirit actually doing that work and applying it helping us to appreciate his significance.

Answer by Rev. Dr. Simon Vibert

Rev. Dr. Simon Vibert is Senior Pastor of Christ Church Virginia Water, England, and the former Vice Principal and Director of the School of Preaching at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford.
