Question
Why is it important that the future resurrection of our bodies will be a physical resurrection?
Answer
Christ is the first fruits of the final resurrection, and he was raised in a body. It's a transformed body, but it's a body. He said to Thomas, "Thomas, hey, come on, touch me Thomas." Right? So, what he's telling him is, you know, this is a real body. Another reason it's very important is just that it tells us about the importance of God's creation, that what God is doing in salvation isn't just an abstract idea about saving us but not caring about the actual creation itself. So it's God's creation and God is saving his creation, and that includes human beings, the crown of his creation, and in the final resurrection that means we're resurrected with bodies.
