Question
How ought the Church see itself as a "kingdom of priests and a holy nation?"
Answer
The church needs to learn to have a clear sense of self-identity. On the one hand, the church must understand that God has placed us as representatives of Christ. They must represent Christ, and the acts of the church around the world are a type of priesthood that every Christian fulfills, that the church does for the world. And it is also a witness. The sanctified life of the church body, of everything we call the church is fundamental for the world to believe that there really has been a process of transformation, or that this transformational process continues to occur through the healing and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. On the other hand, its very important for the church to understand that it is an active priesthood, an active witness. This isn't about isolation; it's not about running away from the world. God has sent us to the world to actively participate in the world, transforming it and remaining holy living in it.
